21st January Just occasionally when we've been walking the location and the weather have come together to produce a really memorable walk. This was one of those occasions. We returned to the Hambleden Valley after last week, but this time we've decided to walk north, up the valley towards Turville, before looping round through Fingest … Continue reading Hambleden

Pheasants Hill
14th January Last time we were in the Hambleden valley it was the week before the Henley Regatta. Almost exactly 7 months later we're back with a shorter walk planned. I could live round here...by which I mean I'd like to live round here, of course! There are internet reports of when the Hambleden estate … Continue reading Pheasants Hill
Lacey Green
8th January 2017 One of those Chiltern days when lazy clouds can't decide whether they're mist or cloud. In fact, it had looked so unpromising that we'd nearly turned back as we drove out to Great Hampden. Parking in The Hampden Arms car park again, this time we walk West rather than North out of … Continue reading Lacey Green
Zennor, Cornwall
The weather was spectacular for late December. We parked up in the small car park on the B3306 St Ives road, just below Rosewall Hill, and walked down to the coastal footpath.
Praa Sands, Cornwall
Not the walk we'd planned...but then we're learning that, round here, because it's marked on the map doesn't mean it exists!
Great Hampden

Christmas Common
11th December There's a pithy C S Lewis quote (from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe) that I love ... 'Always Winter but never Christmas' Hope's an essential component of being human, particularly relevant at this time of year. Time to go where it's always Christmas! No one seems to know how Christmas Common … Continue reading Christmas Common
Great Missenden
3rd December HS2 is the big issue around these parts and it's clear as we drive in that already many are trying to sell up and move out! Soon the Misbourne Valley will be mostly viewed at 150mph, traveling between London and Birmingham. It's a shame because the valley is much like the land time … Continue reading Great Missenden
Nettleden
26th November It turns out that Little Gaddesden has more than it's fair share of the rich and famous; Motty (John Motson), Mark Webber, Luther Blissett, Tim Sherwood, Adrian Scarborough, Roger Bolton, Fiona Bruce and Ronnie Wood all live here...not bad for tiny village hidden away at the back end of Hemel and Berkhamsted. That … Continue reading Nettleden
