Medmenham

4th June

Late!

We intended to get going early, walk and visit Dad on the way home. We ended up leaving late, taking David to Hillingdon (after taking the wrong turn off the M25 and a 10 mile detour), getting lost in the back lanes of Berkshire (because I’d entered the wrong post code in the sat nav) and starting our walk mid morning.

An inauspicious start and, in truth, this wasn’t one of our best walks either (map). We parked in the Dog & Badger car park (N51° 33.22′ W0° 50.43′) and walked up the hill to Medmenham Camp. Much of this walk (5.7 miles) was in woods and for the first 2 miles the path tracked around the gardens of mansions hidden in the Berkshire valleys. Some views later in the walk and Rotten Row is picturesque but other than that not much to suggest we’d be doing this one again. Still, it was good to drop in on Dad on the way home and lose my phone down the side of the sofa, confirming some habits are genetically inherited!
