Walk 1:We completed this at the height of summer and were grateful that the first part is almost entirely woods. The return, along the Thames, is flat, if a little exposed to the sun. A 12 mile walk that will take most of the day. We love the Thames Valley…but that goes back many years and is not just due to the walks! |
Walk 2:A lovely walk from Peppard Green down to the Thames at Mapledurham before returning via Crane End. Again, a 12 mile walk that will take most of the day and beware, unless you do this walk on a Sunday or Bank Holiday, Mapledurham will be all locked up. |
Walk 3:From Nuffield Place (National Trust) this 12 mile walk takes in the Ridgeway, Grims Ditch and some nice views over South Oxfordshire towards Goring and Wallingford. Another all day walk. |
Walk 4:At last a morning (or perhaps better, afternoon) walk in Oxfordshire. This is a short (well, relatively short) 9 miles. Starting early at a leisurely pace you could finish this walk in time for a late lunch in Wheatley. Alternatively, I get the feeling the afternoon view of the Chilterns from Castle Hill Farm would be worth seeing, meaning late afternoon refreshments in Wheatley. |
Walk 5:Another 9 mile walk, this time along the Thames. A couple of climbs towards the end but otherwise a leisurely stroll through the South Oxfordshire countryside. |
