2nd October
I’m struggling to get used to the Church of England. This morning’s service at St Luke’s was finished by 10-20am, which seems ridiculously early compared to a lifetime of services finishing at 12-45pm (perhaps non-conformists just have more stamina!). With most of the morning left we drove out to Chipperfield for one of our shorter walks. Parking up on Chipperfield Common we walked across the fields to Kings Langley before looping back along Langley Lodge Lane, across the fields to Bucks Hill and over the Common to the car park, a short 5 miles in total. Having said all that, one of us still managed to sleep it off most of the afternoon…casting immediate doubt on theories of non-conformist stamina!
