 Walk 1:
Brocket Hall, Lemsford

Brocket Hall, Lemsford

Lemsford Mill

A stroll through the grounds of Brocket Hall. Starting at Lemsford Mill, just off the A1(M), this walk takes in Brocket Hall (now mostly known for its golf course) and the quiet bridleways near Coleman Green. An ideal afternoon walk, 5.5 miles long, flat and a finish at the Sun Inn, Lemsford.

 Walk 2:
Berkhamsted Golf Course

Berkhamsted Golf Course

Nettleden

Starting at Little Gaddesden, this walk crosses the fields to Nettleden before gently climbing onto the Ashridge Estate at Berkhamsted Common. The return takes in Ashridge College (now a business school) before returning to Little Gaddesden. A 9 mile walk with plenty of woods so set aside a good morning or afternoon to complete.

 Walk 3:

Sarrett-Flaunden

Chenies

Relive ‘Goodnight Mr Tom with this walk that starts at Chenies and takes in part of the Chess Valley. The Green Dragon at Flaunden would make a great place to break up this walk…except we chose not to stop. A 8 mile walk that can be completed in a leisurely 3 hours.

Walk 4:
Tollgate-Farm-near-Welham-Green

Tollgate-Farm-near-Welham-Green

Brookman’s Park

Close to the M25 and A1(M) yet parts of this walk are really quite rural. That said, it also takes in Welham Green and the big houses in Brookman’s Park. A busier walk than many of the others but a flat, unchallenging 10 mile walk.

Walk 5:
Shafford-Mill, Redbournberry

Shafford-Mill, Redbournberry

Redbournbury

An easy 8 mile walk across some the country estates just outside St Albans. Chose a better day than us. It was dull and overcast when we walked this route. There are plenty of opportunities for refreshment at the finish in St Albans. Why not try the famous Waffle House?
