Walk 1:Windmills, daffodils and views…what more can you ask for in a walk? The walk starts at Great Hampden and has a couple of climbs. Nevertheless this is a short, 7 mile morning/afternoon walk and finishes at The Hampden Arms, a great place for some refreshment after the walk. |
Walk 2:Described by a friend as ‘one of the jewels of the Chilterns’. Because of the mist we didn’t get to see much of the Bledlow Valley. This 14 mile walk has plenty of interest, West Wycombe and its Hellfire Caves, the picturesque village green of Bradenham and the views from Lodge Hill, near Saunderton Lee. Set aside the day for this walk. |
Walk 3:Another walk that takes in West Wycombe. This time, starting at West Wycombe, the walk climbs into the Hambleden Valley at Fingest. Plenty of ‘Chiltern views’ on this walk. There’s an opportunity to stop for lunch in Fingest, which we didn’t take. Our recommendation, a whole day for this 11 mile walk. |
Walk 4:Not many grand views on this walk but plenty of wooded bridleways and a not too strenuous ramble though the Chiltern countryside. At 9 miles, this is a good morning’s walk, at least it is for us. We started at Cholesbury and, on return, here’s always the Full Moon pub for lunch or a refreshing drink. |
Walk 5:This is a short 5 mile walk around the Chess Valley. No hills to speak of and some great views across the River Chess. |
